Internet Froth, Again

For all of my new Amish readers that may not be aware of recent internet news, Apple was at the center of an imaginary witch hunt this week.1 You see, the internet exploded and frothed over the brim with outrage that Apple would not sell a comic book due to adult content.2

But now, after a few days of “reporting” the internet has discovered that Apple was not involved in the ban.3

Since you may be new on the internet, there are a few things to know about how this world works.

  1. Outrage is always the first responder
  2. There will be many authoritative and exhaustive articles written without evidence or confirmation
  3. The truth will eventually come to light
  4. Everyone will be much less concerned about the truth than the original outrage
  5. The truth will change no one’s original opinion
  6. We like to put “-gate” at the end of these things

  1. If you’re Amish, you may also just now be finding out that witches do not really exist. ↩︎

  2. This includes many of my very good virtual friends. To you guys: I still like you a lot. I blame the internet for your corruption. ↩︎

  3. The TUAW follow-up seems complete but this bit was dissapointing: “But the bad news is that while Comixology did make the mistake, I can’t really blame them for being concerned about Apple’s retribution.” ↩︎
