I decided to do a show that would lose the most listeners, so I sat down with Stephen Hackett to talk about charity and empathy. The show is an awkward mix of irreverent and introspective discussion of the role of charities, picking trustworthy charities and raising empathetic kids. Stephen only talks about iMacs twice.

I had a terrific time talking with Brett Kelly about his home office and workflow. We discussed setup, motivation and, at times, poop. Very fun.
In episode 11 of the Generational podcast, I discussed planning, outlining and context mapping with Brett Terpstra. It was great fun and I learned a lot about his workflow and some new tricks I didn’t know. Brett’s serious about context maps and really knows how to make them work. It was a really fun show.
Oh, the audio doesn’t suck either. So there’s that too.
On the latest episode of Generational, I had a great time talking to Walton Jones, professor of Behavioral Neurobiology and writer at the Drosophiliac. We geeked out about research tools and gathering reference material. It was a blast.
The episode was also sponsored by my favorite bookmarking app on iOS, Pinbook.
I’m psyched about both.
I had an educational discussion with Aaron Mahnke on the latest episode of Generational about what it takes to write a book. We talked about more than just the tools. Instead, we dug into the writing process and some of our favorite authors.
In Episode 6 of the Generational podcast, Shawn Blanc discusses the life changing event of switching careers and going full time with his site. It was enlightening to talk with Shawn about his decisions and the surprises of creating a member supported site. Shawn’s one of my favorite people on the web and this was a real honor.
Put down that book and listen to this podcast about reading books. I had a wonderful high-minded conversation with Yuvi Zalkow and Michael Schechter about the state of books and the future of reading and learning. We like words and stuff.

Episode 4 of Generational afforded me a chance to talk with Ken Weingold about beer hunting and collecting apps. If you have the slightest interest in good beer then this episode might have something for you. As usual, I learned a lot.
Generational Episode 002 - Preparing for the Worst Case Scenario
This was another fun and informative episode for me. I talked with Eddie Smith from Practically Efficient about securing the family records and preparing for disasters. Eddie is an extremely smart guy and has some terrific advice. It’s usually expensive to get advice this good — more so when it’s too late.

My, not so secret, side project is out of the bag today. Myke Hurley over at 70Decibels generously offered me a place to talk to awesome and interesting people and you bet your ass I took it.
On this first episode of Generational, David Sparks takes some time out of making cool stuff and chats with me about the challenges of helping people with their technology.
