I purchased these headphones 1 in a pinch when I lost my Apple earbuds.2 I purchased them at “The Shack” for around $30.
The Feel They are giant. If your ears have no internal structure and are simply giant gaping holes in your head, then these will work fine. If you have what are commonly considered mammal ears, then these are likely too big for you.
I’m pretty sure this is a 1:1 image:
Dr. Drang waxes about his iMac and the realization that a new model is at least six months away.
I have a 2011 27" iMac (2.93GHz Core i7) and it's the best computer I've ever owned (I've had many Macs, including a Mac Pro and MacBook Pro). I would happily replace it with a Retina version but I have doubts that I will see (or afford) a 27" Retina iMac any time soon.
Just a quick post to praise the 30" monitor that has been in daily use on my desk for five years1 without a single problem.
The poetically named NEC LCD3090WQXi display is a beast. But it is a beautiful beast. Every pixel is bright and accurate. The hardware controls are easy to access and actually work. There are built in power saving modes to power down the display after a finite amount of time.
Shawn Blanc loves his Das Keyboard.
David Sparks points out that these keyboards increased his RSI. I agree with that.
I find it humorous how much everyone is talking about Mac keyboards lately. What was the tipping point? The Matias keyboard has been out for years. I used the Das Keyboard on Windows for almost two years.
First I used the Das in my home office until my wife — who shares an office with me — started shooting me the evil eye.
I'm not a professional artist. Therefore this is an 890 word review about a stylus. Does anyone come here for short reviews?
I like my Cosmonaut stylus. It is comfortable and provides just enough resistance against the iPad glass to feel like a real marker. But let's face it, it's big. It works well for big blocky letters, but not for details.
I purchased the Adonit Jot Flip stylus a few days ago and it is the iOS stylus to beat.
The original authoritative review by Serenity Caldwell at Macworld. Serenity also provides a followup resource at Macworld with a complete buying guide.
The Verge gives the same overview in case someone doesn't read Macworld.
I'm sure Serenity will get her hands on the Adonit pressure sensitive stylus soon to provide a full review.
I use the Cosmonaut stylus but the Adonit looks superior for drawing fine details.
Dr.Drang tells the story of a Mac clone that was in service from 1995 until 2012 (if you haven't had your coffee yet, that's 17 years). Who says that knock-offs have to be cheap?
I love the look of Freud's chair from this BoingBoing article. But I have to wonder what future generations would think of the Verte chair I am sitting in right now.
I have a Das Keyboard. It's one of the best feeling keyboards I've ever used. But I had to stop using it because it was so loud. Be aware. It is very loud. Unless you work in an isolated environment a co-worker will attempt to bludgeon you with your Das Keyboard. They do make a silent version of the PC keyboard. I didn't see a listing for a silent Mac version
There’s a good round of discussion about the appropriate way to implement a mute switch. Gruber favors the current design. Andy doesn’t.
I agree with Gruber on this one. According to Andy’s design, I would have to go in and manually disable all audible alerts in the settings every time I wanted to use an alarm. Otherwise, the damn phone would be dinging every few minutes from incoming email. Yes, I have audible email alerts.
