Not so fast. Enter Dylan Ayrey, who discovered a way to use JavaScript to inject malicious commands into a copied shell script. On his proof-of-concept webpage, copying the following innocuous shell command and pasting it into the Terminal results in something completely different

There’s a new update out for Interact for iOS. It’s a strangely useful little app for working with contacts. Interact is one of those apps that I didn’t know I needed but when I use it I feel like a wizard. The developer blog post is a great intro and includes demo videos. Check out the linked video below to see why it’s like magic for entering contacts.
Several of my friends have pointed me to this new Alfred Emoji snippet collection. I’m not sure what that means about my relationships but I am sure this is a pretty stellar addition to Alfred for Mac. Just look at the announcement page for a free collection. It’s tremendous and ironically wordy for an Emoji snippet package. If you like the Slack implementation of Emoji snippets then you’ll love this collection.
Frame.io is an incredible looking iOS app that I now want to use just for sharing videos. The iPhone app looks powerful and gorgeous.
Hazel is one of my top 5 Mac apps. It’s taken me years to build up the scripts that Hazel runs on my machine, partly because there’s a steep learning curve and quite a bit of danger. But now, David Sparks has a video field guide to teach you all about Hazel so you can save a lot of anguish and get right to the magic.
Here’s a 30 minute intro video for free:
Way back in 2012 LinkedIn had a breach and an unspecified amount of information was stolen.

Both Peace and the one of the people behind LeakedSource said that there are 167 million accounts in the hacked database. Of those, around 117 million have both emails and encrypted passwords.
And later…
LeakedSource provided Motherboard with a sample of almost one million credentials, which included email addresses, hashed passwords, and the corresponding hacked passwords.
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of DEVONthink on the Mac but the iOS app wasn’t very useful to me. I’ve been helping to test the betas of the all new V2 of DEVONthink 2 Go and I’m confident this is going to be huge for a lot of people.
If things keep up this way, it will be the first all-in-one capture system I feel fits my needs.
Derek Lowe has some smart things to say about how the humnan genome is portrayed in the media now and how that’s going to be changing.
…the steadily increasing power and scope of sequencing technology is allowing us to really get to work in the zone between those two concepts. That, as it turns out, is where a lot of the promise that attached to the original human sequencing really resides.
This week’s Mac Power Users is terrific. Teddy Svoronos has some great ideas for using iOS to capture lecture notes and give presentations. What I particularly like is that all the tips are practical with almost no “hacking.”
I love concept maps. I love notes. So, of course I’d love the idea behind Octopus Note. It’s a mapping app that also links to detailed notes. It’s in beta now.
Brought to me by my bearded friend who really gets me.
