Quicksilver 1.1 Link

Boy, oh boy these videos brings back memories. It shows that Quicksilver is still under active development and looking pretty darn good. Still, I learned the hard way that exes should stay that way.

iThoughtsX Overview Link

As you’d expect, David does a bang up job on this iThoughtsX overview with a super classy video of the Markdown support.

CopyLess and Keyboard Maestro Clipboard History

I wrote a quick review of CopyLess back in January. At that time I had about a month of usage under my belt. Fast forward 7 months and I’m still using it every day. I’ve moved away from Keyboard Maestro for managing my clipboard but it’s also a great option. I thought it might be nice to write a head-to-head comparison of each tool. The Palette Both CopyLess and Keyboard Maestro present a floating palette with visual indication of the type of material in the clip.

Chronosync for Remote Backups Link

Hilton Lipschitz has a really good write-up of using Chronosync to backup over Back To My Mac. I’ve used Chronosync for years and it’s a great backup system. I never knew it could do this. Crazy.

Aperture Backup Routine Link

Mel Ashar gives a quick rundown one way to backup Aperture photos. Basically, I agree. Nothing is better than an external drive, but I’d forgo TimeMachine in favor a SuperDuper backup.

Yojimbo 4 Link

What’s New in Yojimbo 4 Yojimbo syncing is provided as a subscription service. The first 30 days are free, and the subscription charge is US$2.99 per month thereafter. You may cancel your subscription at any time; if you do, Yojimbo will simply stop synchronizing your data between your Macs — you won’t lose any of your stored information. It’s an interesting decision. I haven’t found information about their plans for syncing with iOS.

Exporting Photos from Bento Link

The TapForms blog has a nice post about exporting records from the, now defunct, Bento. I honestly wouldn’t give FileMaker my money either. Both Bento and FileMaker have been behind the times for awhile. I switched to TapForms many months ago. It’s not as pretty as Bento, but is far more usable.

OmniGraphSketcher is Ending Link

From the OmniGraphSketcher support page: What exactly happens next? We’re still pondering that question, and we’re very open to ideas. At the moment, our first choice is to release it to the world as an open source app so that other developers can keep it moving forward, but for that to really work we think someone would need to volunteer to shepherd the app. If you know someone who would be interested in doing this, please send us email at omnigraphsketcher@omnigroup.

Personal Databases Link

Ken over at NotMillerTime: But FileMaker’s announcement has revealed a space that I think needs to be filled. In FileMaker terms, something way more powerful than Bento, but way less complex and expensive as FileMaker Pro. FileMaker Pro 12, even at its promotional $175 price, along with the free FileMaker Go iOS app, is way too expensive. Plus you can’t even create or modify databases in Go, just deal with records.

Diddums for Pinboard Link

Diddums is another Pinboard client for Mac. This one is just for posting bookmarks quickly. It’s not as full featured as some other clients but it’s good for what it is.
