Great article on Techdirt about the Supreme Court rewriting the copyright laws for public works while the SOPA/PIPA protests were heating up. You didn’t think Disney only spent its money on SOPA and PIPA this year did you?

From Macworld:
“On the other side, giant trade group the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a strong supporter of PIPA, said it would be watching the upcoming vote and warned that it would include senators’ votes in its annual scorecard, which grades lawmakers on a handful of important votes each year.”
The US Chamber of Commerce also refuses to list its members. I wonder why?
Luckily, there are some groups watching the chamber.
Disney will not even consider alternatives. I discussed it with my three year old daughter. She’s pretty sure that Wall•E does not support SOPA or PIPA. She didn’t agree with my argument that Disney has already perverted copyright and is now targeting freedom of expression on the Internet and therefore Wall•E and EVE are guilty by association. We’ve agreed to disagree.
At least I can still buy programming books. O’Reilly publishing is fighting SOPA.
Through support for the Association of American Publishers, many major publishers are supporting SOPA. Cameron Neylon has a nice overview and opinion.
From Comicbookbin.com. Also a tale of what censorship looks like even with the current laws. SOPA and PIPA would make this much worse. They also have a good piece on replacing Marvel and DC with publishers that don’t support SOPA.
Patrick Leahy from Vermont was hired to author PIPA. He has “backed down” now that it threatens his livelihood of shilling for large media companies. If you live in Vermont, do me a solid and vote against him next election.
PDF of all listed companies. I know some of this list was either cooked or completely invented. I’m doing research and voting with my wallet.
ESA Supports SOPA
I know that it’s actually ESA supporting SOPA, but corporations can not align with an entity, use it as a battering ram and then not be held accountable. I’m not giving money to Capcom until they change their position.

Banners and Cartoons are not going to create the change most internet users want. I know it’s not something I care to waste time on. Instead, I’m gathering links and writing this post. Here’s some things that will actually make a difference.
